Palmarosa (Cymbopogon martinii) is a perennial herbaceous plant in the Poaceae family, related to lemongrass. It forms long, slender stems that can reach 3 meters in height, adorned with fine, strap-like, bright green leaves. Its natural, sweet, floral fragrance is reminiscent of rose, which is how it got its common name.

Native to tropical Asia, particularly India and Nepal, palmarosa thrives in well-drained, organically rich soils and in a warm, humid climate. It is often grown in rotation with other aromatic plants, which helps to maintain soil fertility.

The flowering produces small, inconspicuous but highly fragrant panicles. When crushed, the leaves and stems release an intense, sweet aroma characteristic of this aromatic grass.
