The sweet orange tree (Citrus sinensis) is an evergreen fruit tree belonging to the Rutaceae family. It typically reaches a height of 5 to 10 meters and is recognizable by its glossy, dark green, oval leaves and its sweetly fragrant white flowers, also known as neroli blossoms. Its rounded, dense shape makes it both an ornamental and productive tree.

This citrus fruit thrives in warm and temperate climates, with a sunny location sheltered from the wind. It prefers light, well-drained, and nutrient-rich soils. Orange trees are commonly cultivated in Mediterranean regions, South America, and some subtropical areas, both as orchards and as ornamental plants or in pots.

Its round fruits, with orange skin when ripe, are rich in sweet and aromatic juice. They are eaten fresh, juiced, or used in baking, confectionery, and cosmetics. The bark and leaves can also be distilled to produce essential oils with calming, invigorating, or digestive properties, highly valued in aromatherapy.
