Field mint (Mentha arvensis) is a perennial herbaceous plant belonging to the Lamiaceae family. It has the typical square stems of mints, reaching up to 60 cm in height, and bright green, serrated, fragrant foliage. Its leaves, rich in essential oil glands, release a powerful and refreshing aroma when crushed.

It grows naturally in temperate zones of Europe, Asia, and North America, often in cool, moist soils, along riverbanks or in meadows. Cultivation requires rich, well-drained soil that retains moisture, as well as a sunny to partially shaded location. Plantings are often maintained to prevent this vigorous mint from becoming invasive.

Its flowering period, from June to September, produces small mauve or lilac flowers clustered in spikes, which are highly attractive to pollinators such as bees and butterflies. These flowers add a touch of color and fragrance to the areas where it grows, enhancing its ecological value.
