Lemon-scented litsea cubeba (Litsea cubebaLitsea (Litsea) is a tropical tree in the Lauraceae family, native to Southeast Asia. It can reach up to 12 meters in height and is distinguished by its glossy, lanceolate, and highly aromatic foliage. When its leaves are crushed, they release an intense lemony fragrance. It grows naturally in the humid, sunny areas of China and Vietnam, in fertile, well-drained soils. Thanks to its rapid growth and ability to adapt to different cultivation methods, litsea is commonly integrated into sustainable agroforestry systems.

The essential oil is extracted by steam distillation from the tree's small, round fruits, which ripen from green to black. The result is an essence with a fresh, sweet, and lemony scent, highly prized for its soothing and purifying effects. When diffused, it promotes relaxation and cleanses the air. It is also used in cosmetics for its pleasant fragrance, or in body care for its rebalancing properties, provided that the precautions for use are followed.
