Super lavender (Lavandula burnatii super) is a natural hybrid resulting from a cross between true lavender (Lavandula angustifolia) and spike lavender (Lavandula latifolia). A perennial shrub in the Lamiaceae family, it is distinguished by its generous, bushy habit, grey-green foliage, and long, blue-violet flower spikes. Its fragrance is similar to lavender, but fresher and more camphoraceous, with a very pronounced aromatic intensity.

Hardy and vigorous, lavandin super thrives in dry, well-drained, and sunny soils, often at lower altitudes than true lavender. Its cultivation is widespread in Provence, where it offers high yields of essential oil, making it a major resource for perfumery, aromatherapy, and the cosmetics industry.

The summer flowering of lavender attracts numerous pollinators, particularly bees, actively contributing to local biodiversity. Lavender fields, with their vast purple expanses and invigorating fragrance, contribute to the landscape and economic identity of southern France.
